Who we are

Careward is a trusted response network that helps communities respond to difficult events with calm, trauma-informed support. For anything in this policy, you can reach us at hello@careward.org.

What we collect

We collect information in two ways, and both are limited:

  • What you send us. When you use the contact form or email us, we receive what you provide: your name, email address, organization if you include it, which topic you chose, and your message.
  • Standard technical logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure records basic request data (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps) for security and reliability.

We do not ask for, and encourage you not to send, detailed clinical or medical information through the contact form.

How we use it

  • To respond to your message and have the conversation you asked for.
  • To assess and coordinate the support you requested for your community.
  • To review applications to join the responder network.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

What we never do

  • We never sell personal information.
  • We never use your story or your community's situation for marketing without explicit permission.
  • We do not run advertising or advertising trackers on this site.

When information is shared

Sharing is limited to what coordination actually requires:

  • Within Careward, with the small number of people who need it to respond to your request.
  • With responders, if you ask us to activate support — we share the context needed to show up well, and no more.
  • With service providers that run our infrastructure (such as hosting and email), bound to process data only on our behalf.
  • When the law requires it, or when sharing is necessary to protect someone from serious, imminent harm (see the next section).

Support conversations & safety

As Careward's support services launch, conversations with clinicians and trained supporters will be treated as confidential, within boundaries we will always be transparent about: licensed professionals follow the ethical and legal duties of their license, and any responder may escalate when someone appears to be at serious risk of harming themselves or others.

Careward is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911, or call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Cookies & third-party services

We use only essential cookies — small, short-lived ones the site needs to function, such as the security token that protects the contact form. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Some assets load from content delivery networks — fonts from Google Fonts and the icon library from unpkg. Like any web request, those services receive standard request data such as your IP address when your browser fetches the files.

How long we keep things

We keep correspondence for as long as needed to respond and coordinate, then for a reasonable period so we have context if you come back to us. Technical logs rotate on a short schedule. If you ask us to delete your information, we will, unless a legal obligation requires keeping it.

Security

We protect information in transit with encryption (HTTPS), limit access to the people who need it, and prefer collecting less over collecting more — the data we never hold is the data that can never leak.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — at any time, by writing to hello@careward.org. Depending on where you live, these may also be legal rights; we honor reasonable requests regardless of jurisdiction.

Children

This website and contact form are intended for adults — leaders, clinicians, and supporters acting for their communities. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site. Support programs involving minors are always arranged through, and with the consent of, the responsible organization and guardians.

Changes to this policy

As Careward grows, this policy will grow with it. We will update this page when practices change and adjust the date at the top, and material changes will be called out plainly rather than buried.
